Paul Shearer
Paul joined Govett Quilliam in 1992 as part of our Family Team under Noel Walsh and Emma Smith who have since been appointed as Family Court Judges in 1999 and 2004 respectively. Paul became a Partner on 1 January 2000 and now heads the Family Team, which comprises six lawyers who all have very busy practices.
Expertise
Paul has wide ranging experience in all aspects of family law and is regularly appointed by the Family Court as Lawyer for Child in contested cases about parenting orders. He specialises in cases about children and the division of relationship property.
He regularly appears in the Family Court and High Court.
Outside of Govett Quilliam
Paul is a trustee of the Taranaki branch of Big Brothers Big Sisters, which is an international charity that organises adult mentors to guide young people (children) who are at risk.
Paul is the coach of the Fitzroy Primary School Incrediball cricket team that his eight year old son plays in.
Personal Interests
Paul enjoys all sports, particularly rugby, cricket and golf. Paul is married and has three children.
