Alex Laurenson
Alex joined Govett Quilliam in 2000. He then moved to Wellington in 2004 where he spent time working in a senior barrister’s chambers as counsel for the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services, and for a private firm in Wellington. He returned to Govett Quilliam in 2007 and became a Partner in 2008.

Alex’s practice is focused on family law and civil matters.
Alex is experienced in resolving issues for clients in a wide range of areas. As well as acting for private clients, Alex accepts court appointments to represent children in Family Court cases.
Outside of Govett Quilliam
Alex is a regular member of community based organisations and is Vice President of the Friends of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery Committee and council member of the Taranaki branch of the New Zealand Law Society.
Personal Interests
Alex is married with one young child and enjoys spending time with family, participating in social sports, attending local events and arts and culture.
Alex is of Atihaunui a Paparangi, Tuwharetoa, Ngai Tumapuhia Rangi, and Ngai Tahu descent.
