The family team at Govett Quilliam are experienced in all family law matters. We are able to offer expert advice and assistance as well as support you through the Family Court process.

We recognise that separations can be extremely difficult and stressful for all members of the family. Our team strives to provide sensitive and caring advice, which is tailored to the individuals involved.

Our family law services include:
  • Relationship property - We are experienced in assisting clients through separations and formally resolving the division of relationship property. We are also able to offer assistance and advice with respect to protecting separate property by way of contracting out of the Property (Relationships) Act 1976.
  • Dissolution of marriage -  We regularly assist clients to apply for Dissolution Orders of Marriage after separation for a period of two years, whether the application is made jointly or unilaterally.
  • Care arrangements for children - In the event of separation, we can also offer advice as to how to determine a child's care arrangements. This could be either by way of formal Court Order or by way of a Parenting Agreement.
  • Child Support - We provide guidance to clients regarding their obligations and rights with respect to Child Support and the alternative options there are.
  • Paternity - We are able to assist clients who require a Paternity Order through the Family Court. We can arrange DNA testing as well as the appropriate applications to obtain a Paternity Order. We are also able to assist defend Paternity applications if you have been served with them.
  • Adoption - We also regularly support clients through the adoption process and obtain the appropriate Orders through the Family Court.
  • Domestic Violence - Domestic violence comes in many forms, including physical, psychological, verbal and sexual abuse. If you require protection we are able to provide the necessary assistance to obtain an urgent Protection Order. We are also able to assist those who need to defend a Protection Order too.
