Environment and Resource Management

We recognise that achieving compliance with environmental legislation can be a costly hurdle for all parties involved in development. Our resource management specialists are experienced in assisting clients through the process as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Govett Quilliam provides resource management advice to a wide range of clients on a daily basis. We have assisted our clients to achieve their objectives in relation to a variety of projects, including: coastal and rural subdivisions; residential, retail and commercial developments; forestry, quarrying and aquaculture; designations; oil and gas prospecting; exploration and production; conservation and heritage preservation and access and transportation.

We have also represented community groups and assisted them to successfully oppose applications for developments which may have resulted in adverse effects on the environment.

Our team regularly appears at Council hearings, Environment Court assisted mediations, in the Environment Court, the District Court and the High Court in relation to a wide range of environment issues.

We also have an in-depth knowledge of related legislation, including the Crown Minerals Act 1991; Biosecurity Act 1993; Conservation Act 1987; Continental Shelf Act 1964; Environment Act 1986; Fisheries Act 1996; Foreshore and Seabed Revesting Act 1991; Hauraki Gulf Marine Park Act 2000; Maritime Transport Act 1994 and the Historic Places Act 1993.
